Our Youth Program
Spend a week with Encounters with Canada - Canada's largest youth forum! Every week of the school year, 120 to148 teens from across Canada (ages 14-17) come to Ottawa, where they discover their country through each other, learn about Canadian institutions, meet famous and accomplished Canadians, explore exciting career options, develop their civic leadership skills and live an extraordinary bilingual experience. Over 96,000 youth have lived the EWC experience, so far!

A different theme each week
Participants visit the Supreme Court of Canada, an Ottawa Jail Hostel and a police department, among others, as well as having the opportunity to take part in a mock trial. Lawyers come throughout the week to help prepare and assist the participants in their roles as lawyers, court clerks, witnesses and the jury. The presence of legal professionals lends an aura of authenticity to the mock trial case, where everyone gets to play an active role.

In this module, programmed in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs Canada, participants honour and remember Canadians serving and those who have served in the past to ensure we live in a free society.
The Heritage Minute
Programmed in collaboration with Canadian Heritage, this module inspires EWC participants to reflect on Canadian history (local, provincial, national), and to find innovative ways to commemorate and celebrate these important milestones.
Programmed in collaboration with PEI 2014 Inc., this module highlights the characters, circumstances and social activities that forged the beginnings of our great country and sets the stage for the 150th Anniversary of the Charlottetown Conference, which paved the way to Confederation in 1867.
