1982 – 2012: Happy 30th EWC!
2012 marks the 30th anniversary of Encounters with Canada. To mark this important milestone, we have refreshed our Encounters with Canada logo and have also created a special 30th anniversary logo.
The new Encounters' logo looks modern, youthful and appealing. Its colour – orange – is said to stimulate creative thinking and enthusiasm, the willingness to embrace new ideas with enjoyment and a sense of exploration and creative play - all in keeping with the spirit of Encounters with Canada.
During the last 30 years, the Encounters with Canada program has witnessed more than 89,000 young Canadians learn about themselves, and their country, through a week of citizenship and leadership activities. Not only have participants had the chance to flourish - to aim higher and to push farther, but also to assume their role as citizens and to open up to the world of opportunities before them. And, they have created enduring bonds with other young Canadians from across the country.
Our 30th anniversary is also a cause to celebrate the truly amazing commitment of thousands of volunteers and partners, who have helped us enrich the lives of our youth over the years. We thank them for their dedication and support in attaining this momentous anniversary. Together, we have been able to create a meaningful forum - our country’s largest and most pre-eminent - and to serve as a source of inspiration for young generations – past, present and future - making possibilities into realities that will expand their horizons in ways they never thought possible.
Happy 30th Anniversary, Encounters with Canada!
